Permits are required for any work that has to comply with Iocal and state codes.

Such as:
Decks, Sheds, and Fences
Porches, both enclosed and covered
Interior and exterior repairs, renovations and conversions
Structural Features and Fire Safety
Additions to any building
New Construction
Septic work, repairs and new
Sewer work, repairs and new
Solid Fuel Burning Appliance Installations

When unsure about a project, it would be best to contact the Codes Enforcement Officer to inquire if a permit is required before starting any project.

The Town of Lenox is strongly enforcing property maintenance and junk vehicle regulations.

The Town of Lenox along with the Canastota and Wampsville Fire Departments are administering a Rapid Access System (Knox Box) so that the fire departments have access to commercial and industrial buildings to reduce damage caused by emergency personal accessing a building.

The Town of Lenox along with Madison County 911 is administering an address system.
